I saw in DP someone complaining he got banned from AdSense for adult or mature content but that he hadn’t had any adult sites or pages. So if he was telling truth then someone else of a competitor might had done it.

AdSense Allowed Sites Option might save you from this.  Go to your AdSense account and then AdSense Setup >Allowed Sites Add all sites you have AdSense ads on. That way any other site which is not in the list won’t be count and their impressions or clicks won’ t be added to your account.

Smowtion Media ad network – First month

I have started testing Smowtion Media ads in one of my sites last month. The Site gets only around 100-150 unique visitors per month. So far result is not so great but bit improved. This month I have received 500 impressions so far and US$0.21 ! So this can’t be the best Ad network you can find specially as an alternative for AdSense.

Adbrite is one of the top Alternatives for AdSense. I’m trying to do a short review on it without going to technical details. Signing up process it pretty easy they ask all usual questions and that’s it. no waiting period like when you try to join AdSense. They have various kinds of Ads mainly inline Ads and banners ads. So if you are an AdSense publisher still you can use Adbrite along with AdSense ads.

Hard part is adding your site to market place and procedure is determining your prices. you need to create Ad Zones for each site and first you need to wait till Adbrite Approve them. Then you have to wait to potential advertisers to pick your site.

Their rules are bit less strict than AdSense but still they ASK you not to put their ads in Adult sites. You can get banned for that. Minimum payment amount is 20$ and there are multiple payment methods. mainly checks.

They have an affiliate program too. On all buying and selling activity referred by your site you receive, 50% of AdBrite’s profits for the first 3 months and 10% of AdBrite’s profit for the next 9 months.

Why publishers fail to earn from Amazon affiliate program

I think Amazon affiliate program is one of few affiliate programs which is given up by publishers because they don’t earn anything at all from it. Biggest reason for this is they were using same methods as they use for ppc sites. One important fact to remember is unlike ppc ads you don’t earn because they clicked on ads. These are CPA programs you earn only if visitors buy something. Key facts are,

Give them a reason to click - you won’t earn per click but if people don’t click on ads they won’t goto the site so there won’t be sales. So the first thing is get visitors to click on ads. For that you need to give them a reason. Contact has to be interesting. Also you can ask them to check Amazon to get more reviews of the products. Getting clicks is the first step.

Link to products with positive reviews – Better link to products with positive reviews because they might loose the trust if you try to tell them a product is good while many people review it as a bad product. Make sure those reviews in Amazon site confirm what you said about the product.

Price of the product – A plasma TV would give you a huge commission but how many people would buy a Plasma TV online without inspecting it real ? Also people tend to buy small cheap items more. commission you get might be nothing but still person might buy some other things along with it.

Right site for right product - Not all sites are fine for Amazon affiliate program. This might be great for Blogs and also forums. where people return after first visit.  displaying bunch of Amazon ads in side bar not gonna make you money. If you want to have better conversion rate then you need to recommend the product also give all information about the product good or bad.

Traffic – Its not easy to earn from Amazon Affiliate program unless you have decent flow of traffic to your site. After all this is a CPA programs you are not gonna get paid for impressions or clicks. Don’t give up because you don’t get any sales. Just watch if you get clicks. If you  get clicks then you gonna get sales sooner or later.

If you are new to Amazon Affiliate program then these fact are the basics you need to keep in mind. Don’t give up after a month or two. Also don’t try to relay on one single niche.

Smowtion Media is one of  new ad networks which has started recently. SmowtionMedia focuses on display ads and banners. Ads come from the companies that hire SmowtionMedia y from agreements with leader companies. They pay for eCPM.

They give you all stats nice and clean. Also Ad formats are similar to AdSense. Also their support is good and quick. You shouldn’t use SmowtionMedia as your main Ad source but as second or third fill. You can’t except a lot from them but excpet from AdSense you can’t except a lot from anyone else.

They have pay you by check, ATM and ,PayPal. Recently They have offered Smowtion Prepaid MasterCard which seems to be a great payment option.

Their revenue share system usually works as 60% for publisher and 40% for them selves but as a promo if you come through a referrer you get 80%. Also You will earn 5% of your referred members’ revenues for 6 months.

Does the Amazon.com affiliate program works ?

Amazon.com affiliate program seems  getting lot of negative reviews because of their 4% commission rate and also 24 hour cookie. I was told by so many webmasters Amazon Affiliate program is one of the worst Affiliate programs you can find. But i don’t think this has much truth in it.

First their 24 hours cookie problem. It means you will get paid only if your referrer buy something within 24 hours since he has clicked your Amazon product link. Now this is kinda bad I agree.

Then their low affiliate commission rate, which is 4%. they have a flat rate for list of consumer electronic stuff. But for other products like books, DVDs and many other things you can earn upto 8.5 % and at Endless.com gives you upto 15% ! So its not bad at all. Specially if you niche is about books, Manga / Anime, Games and Movies. Even for things like cameras Amazon affiliate program is one of few which you can use.

Reason for so many webmasters false with Amazon affiliate program is because they use it for wrong type of sites. You can’t earn money from Amazon Affiliate program using every site you have like with PPC networks.

This works well with sites which has loads of returning traffic. If your site visitors trust you, then they tend to buy things through your link. So You can earn money from Amazon affiliate program using blogs. You can recommend products and make reviews about what you like.

There are few good things about Amazon affiliate program. Amazon.com is more like a household name. people buy things from it ! This is a big advantage. Also they have soo many different things, which means you might earn money from none related items to your Amazon link. for example someone who used a link from your book review site might buy a plasma TV !

So Amazon.com affiliate program is not bad as it might look. You need to know how to earn from it. Also it needs loads of traffic. I have always able to keep clicks/sales rato at 2%-5%. Sometimes even 10%.

People usually start looking for AdSense Alternatives when They get banned by Google AdSense. If you have low traffic website or set of sets earning money online is really hard without AdSense. Wiser way is try not to depend on AdSense 100%. Its better start testing other methods of earning money online and also other Ad networks.

There are plenty of PPC networks which you can test but none would pay same as AdSense. Best alternatives would be AdBirte, Bidvertiser, Kontera, and Adtoll. There are other PPC networks like Clicksor and Chitika but its harder to earn from them unless you have loads of traffic from USA alone.
